Common Questions…

I’m nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?

It’s completely normal to feel nervous about starting therapy. It’s something new—and it can feel vulnerable to open up.

You don’t have to share everything right away. We’ll move at your pace, and you’re always in control of what you talk about.

I’m here if you want to talk through it first during a free consultation.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Take your time to read through my website. If you sense that I may be a good fit based on what you are reading, you can schedule yourself in my online scheduler.

During a free phone consultation, you can ask me questions about my approach, what a typical session with me is like, or any other questions you may have that are specific-to-you. You’ll also be able to discuss what's on your mind and we can decide together how I can help.

It may be helpful to think of the first few sessions as trying out the waters together. During the sessions, you’ll be able to understand how comfortable you feel in sessions. My approach is not going to work for everyone. What’s most important to me is that you find someone who you feel is the right fit for you. We can explore that together.

What if I don't want to talk about something?

You never have to talk about anything you’re not ready for.

We’ll move at your pace and focus on what feels manageable. You’re in control of what you share, always.

Even saying “I’m not ready to talk about that yet” is enough.

Does what we talk about in therapy remain confidential?

Everything you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (like risk of harm to yourself or others).

Outside of those situations, your privacy is fully protected.

If you ever have questions about confidentiality, we can go over them together.

How long will therapy take?

It’s normal to wonder how long therapy will take—especially if you’re looking for relief.

Many clients start noticing small shifts within the first few sessions, like feeling a bit more calm or hopeful.

Some people benefit from short-term work, while others prefer longer-term support. We’ll figure out what works best for you.

What can I expect during the first session?

The first session is more like a conversation. We’ll get to know each other, talk about what’s bringing you in, and explore what you’re hoping for.

You can also ask me any questions you have.

The most important thing is that you leave feeling comfortable and like this could be a good fit.

How can I get started?

The best way to get started is by booking a free phone consultation.

We’ll talk through what’s going on for you and see if this feels like a good fit.
